Swiftreach Notification

Monday April 16, 2012

This is a recorded message from the Martinsburg Municipal Authority. The main water line on South Mansard Street is being replaced starting today April 16th.   Water service interruptions will be required to allow for the new line to be connected to the existing lines. Two scheduled shut downs will be April 18th and 23rd at 9:00 am both days. We are attempting to make individual calls to all customers who we are sure will lose total water pressure. If you have a total loss of pressure it is recommended that before your drink the water you bring it to a rolling boil for one minute. Others may notice low water pressure or possibly a total loss of pressure. We will make a second individual call to those we know have lost pressure to remove the boil notice. A complete notice can be obtained at our office or our website www.martinsburgpa.org. If you have other questions please call our office at 793-3213.

Drinking Water Problem Corrected

Este Informe Contiene Informacion Muy Importante Sobre Su Agua De Beber. Traduzcalo O Hable Con Alguien Que Lo Entienda Bien.

As a customer of the Martinsburg Municipal Authority, you were notified on January 31, 2011 that the maximum concentration for nitrate in the drinking water was exceeded. We also notified you on February 23 and April 5, 2011 that the nitrate level was near but not over the limit but suggested that infants under six months of age, nursing mothers and pregnant women continue to follow the warning recommending that they do not drink the water.

We are pleased to report that the problem has been corrected and that those affected by nitrate can now drink the water. The Department of Environmental Protection has issued an operations permit for the Martinsburg Municipal Authorities newly constructed nitrate treatment plant. On July 21, 2011 the plant was put into service and has been operating per its design. This notice is to inform all water system customers that the nitrate level in the drinking water is below the maximum DEP limit and is suitable for consumption. Should you have any questions please call Randy Stoltz at 793-3213. Thank you for your patience as we worked to correct the problem.
